CE marking
CE marking states that the manufacturer considers the marked product compliant with applicable EU harmonisation requirements. On vape hardware it may cover electrical aspects; it is not an independent quality seal or confirmation that an e-liquid is harmless to health.

Classification
CE marking comes from product, youth-protection, tax or environmental law and describes an obligation, a prohibition or a labelling requirement. Anyone applying the rule must also check its scope and the product type concerned. In this glossary, CE marking deliberately sits close to Article 20 TPD, because the two are regularly conflated in everyday language.

Practical relevance
In retail and online purchasing, CE marking decides what may be offered, shipped or imported in the first place. Breaches affect not only sellers but frequently private orders from abroad as well. Together with Product recall, CE marking is one of the points where factual information and advertising promises separate most clearly.
