Battery law
Battery law refers to rules on manufacture, labelling, take-back and treatment of batteries and waste batteries. Since October 2025, Germany's framework particularly comprises the directly applicable EU Batteries Regulation and the BattDG implementation act; ElektroG also remains relevant for built-in vape cells.

Classification
Battery law comes from product, youth-protection, tax or environmental law and describes an obligation, a prohibition or a labelling requirement. Anyone applying the rule must also check its scope and the product type concerned. In this glossary, Battery law deliberately sits close to Advertising restriction, because the two are regularly conflated in everyday language.
